Missguided - Wordpress Blog
Web development project for Missguided.
Whilst working at Missgudied, one of the bigger projects was to create a blog for the brand. I worked with Adam Collier on a WordPress theme, we decided against child themes and started from scratch. Designing components and layouts in Sketch, sharing and voting on these with the wider design team, and gradually improving with each deployment. This allowed us to get something working quickly that could grow and grow.
My favourite tasks were time saving and ease of use features, such as the product crawler. The blog author's need to add products to their posts, gotta sell dresses right? Whilst Missguided's product databases were a little too complicated to wrangle for this problem, I opted to create a wordpress plug-in, which can scrape product data from a URL, store that data in a cache for components to render as shoppable content as seen in image 3. This took all the strain away from the authors, without giving the already stretched dev team another ticket to work on.
